Vacation Time
Hello everyone! I will have to take about two weeks off of blogging, because I am in serious need of a break from my busy life. Hope to maybe get a couple videos up before then, but if I don't, I will see you in two weeks! Remember, rest is important in order to progress. Have a nice rest of your summer.
Another Good Open Turn Video
The turn is one of the easiest places to drop time in any event. Here is another great open turn video ft. Rebecca Soni!
Quick note
On my last post about the open turns, I have been really trying to reach backward on the recovery after you touch the wall. I had previously been taught to just skim the water. This may sound confusing, but watch the video at :16 and :18, and you will see what I am talking about. Enjoy!
Open Turns
Open turns are used in both breaststroke and butterfly. They are extremely efficient IF you know how to do them well.

PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO
This is a video that the lifeguards and I watch along with our WSI certifications in order to become a coach. These are simple, yet important rules for children when they are around water. It is kind of HILARIOUS because it is so old, but it does bring up some important rules.
Backstroke turns
Hello everyone! Here is another Ryan Lochte video of some great backstroke turns. Enjoy

Cool Video
This is a cool video. I can definitely relate because I am not a very good kicker. Kicking is so under-appreciated and is so important.
Technical Suits: the Arena Powerskin ST
The first technical suit I ever purchased was the Arena Powerskin. I got it two years ago, and at the time it was $120.00. I got a size 28 when my normal size is was about 32 for practice suits. I thought it fir well, but my coach said that I could have used one size smaller. It fit very well around the legs (in my opinion much better than the Speedo fastskin) and I got a lot of use out of it. I wore it about 7 times before I really noticed it getting waterlogged. I still wore it for compression training as well. Here is the link to it on swimoutlet.com

Breastroke
I worked on breaststroke with my swimmers yesterday, and I worked on it as well at practice. Here are some good drills. We call the first drill the accordion drill. Enjoy.

Technical Suits
Hello everyone. This week I am going to talk about something that a lot of people have no idea whatsoever about... technical suits. I personally love technical suits. They give me that extra boost of confidence I need to give every race my all. I am going to give my honest review of the only two technical suits I have purchased, and they are from two different brands; arena and speedo.

Equipment: Review of Finis Zoomer Gold
Hello again!
For all of the intermediate/ advanced swimmers out there, I have a great piece of equipment for you; the Finis Zoomer Gold. Here is my honest feedback:
I purchased these and have been using them periodically for about two months. I absolutely love them. They really work your legs, you can feel it. I think they have improved the thrust of my kick a lot in the short period of time that I have had them. I couldn't find them at my favorite website, swimoutlet.com, but I found them at swim2000.com. If you are serious about training, I would think about investing in a pair. One helpful tip, they run BIG. I am an 8.5-9.5 in tennis shoes, and I got a size D. They fit perfectly. Take a look at the sizing chart online. Here is a video about them.
